ACRI-ST has expert skills in coastal engineering and physics modelling which have allowed participating and leading numerous studies and research topics (through PhDs, research in house or in collaboration with European laboratories). Apart from the studies of civil engineering (e.g. coastal structures designing) including advice missions towards the insurance companies, this expertise has been widely exploited at European level to develop precursor services in the frame of the EU funded projects (DESIMA, ISOLE and CleanSeas) or ESA GMES (COASTWATCH) addressing the water quality related topics and services.
