Satellite Images Acquisition System
WEFAX WEFAXSAT software package offers advanced WEFAX image processing functions together with a WEFAX reception station providing meteorological satellite digital images, which are received, stored, processed or even animated. wef_euro.gif

Knowing the weather and the climate (cloud movement, weather forecast, rain index, rising forecast, sea surface temperature, cloud analysis...), accessing good quality images, especially those from METEOSAT, represent a tremendous tool for a great number of laboratories and industries, as well as for agriculture. Earth observation datas are directly usable, in real time, by the WEFAXSAT system.

FONCTIONNALITIES

All datas go through several stages so as to be usable. WEFAXSAT : the acquisition and processing system developed and commercialised by GM-IMAGES, changes a computer into a satellite reception station.

The system includes a 1 meter diameter dish, an analogic reception station a digitisation and image processing board and of course, WEFAXSAT software.

This reception set allows the picking-up of WEFAX format METEOSAT, GOES, GMS type geostationary satellites as well as APT format for polar satellites like NOAA and METEOR.

WEFAWSAT system description
* Pull down menu type user interface, entirely manageable with the mouse
* Geographical zone and spectral band of acquisition controlled by the user. Self-automatic controlled entirely, with a possibility of manual control
* Dissemination hours of METEOSAT channels 1 and 2 recorded in a text file form (interactive updating)
* Last 75 images may be stored on the hard disk, that is to say 15 for each of the following zones : COX (CO2 et CO3), CXD (de C1D to C9D), DX (de D1 to D9), TOTAL (CTOT, DTOT) and WEFAX
* Management and maintenance of the recorded images and a possibility of compacting them through various methods
* Possibility of acquiring without storing, and of displaying continuously the images
* Interactive creation of color (or shads of grey) animation loops with image choice, speed variator.
* 256 color display with graphic resolution choice (480x640, 600 x800 and 768x1024)
* 3 levels of zoom directly accessible through mouse interaction
* Interactive contrast arrangement controlled by the user
* Oscilloscope function allowing a detailed analysis of the signal on a recorded image
* Color output on various types of printers
* Possible interface with other types of image formats such as TITUS, ARTIST, PCX, BMP.

WEFAXSAT SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

In order to use WEFAXSAT system you should have an IBM-PC compatible with 4 Mo mem. computer.

WEFAXSAT also accepts a Microsoft - or compatible - mouse. GM-IMAGES declines any responsability as to the use of non compatible hardware with WEFAXSAT software.

The various WEFAXSAT modules will operate more or less quickly depending on the processor and on the access specifications of the hard disk.
