MERISVIEW |
Overview
MERISVIEW is a general purpose visualizing and analyzing tool developped under IDL © with the following capabilities :
display a field using an image;
perform a map projection of any field w/ coastlines, and/or country borders and/or rivers;
add a colorbar to the image;
add contour lines to the image;
reverse the image along the horizontal/vertical direction; modify the color palette of the image interactively;
select and retrieve a field from one/multiple MERIS products and intermediate data files (Level 1 or Level 2);
restore data saved in a *.SAV file (IDL binary format) during a previous MERISVIEW session;
read in real-time the value and the line/column coordinates of the pixel below the cursor; mask the image with user defined combinations of Level1/Level2/internal flags ;
mask the pixels whose values are below/above user defined thresholds; apply image processing algorithms to the image (histogram equalisation, edge enhancement etc.) to enhance features of the image;
zoom on the region specified with the mouse;
compute various statistics (mean, median, number of masked points, standard deviation etc.) on a region of the image specified with the mouse;
produce statistical graphics (ascending/descending or plain histograms); print the display in a file (GIF, TIFF, JPEG) or directly to a printer;
save the extracted fields (retrieved from one or multiple MERIS data files) in a single output file, either following the IDL *.SAV format, the NetCDF or the HDF format.
But this listing won't help you to use the software, to do so you are given two possibilities: you may either read the step-by-step user manual or go directly to the FAQ. For beginners the step by step procedure is highly recommanded, but if you are already familiar with this tooll than probably jumping directly to the FAQ is preferable.
