Starting MERISVIEW [User Manual TOC]

Before starting IDL edit the merisview.pro file and modify the value of the variable IDL_LOCAL to reflect your own installation - this directory is the one that holds the merisview directory. Make sure to specify the full path for this directory - a relative path will make the software very unstable.

Also, specify the DATABASE_DIR variable (full path also); this is the name of the directory that holds the configuration files index_*.txa and database.db essential to read MERIS products.

Then, under the IDL prompt, just run the following command :

@MERISVIEWDIR/merisview

where MERISVIEWDIR is the directory where the merisview software is located.

A window should then appear that gives the list of all available flags for your session, the list of available flags may change from session to session as you download flags from different file types. An example of such a window is given below :

The AND and OR buttons allow to respectively chose whether you want to mask pixels that have been masked with all the flags selected or whether you want to mask the pixels that have been masked with any of the flags selected.

The Reset button will unselect all previously selected flags and keep this window open and active.

The Accept and Quit button will take into account your selection, mask the image accordingly, and close this window.

The Accept button will take into account your selection, mask the image accordingly, but will keep this window open and active.

Masking pixels above or below a given value [User Manual TOC]

The min/max values of the current field are given just above the image; these are used to build the colorbar of the current image, i.e. the smallest value is given the color index 0 and the highest value is given the highest color number minus one (the highest being reserved for white). You may change those values with the keyboard or with the mouse using the two sliders located just below the min/max values - anything outside the range [min,max] will be masked and appear in white on your image.
